Acoustic pingers are devices that generate acoustic signals underwater. They are used to mark an underwater site or piece of equipment so a returning diver, using a pinger receiver, can locate the exact spot. Pingers are available with different transmit frequencies so several can be deployed in the same general area without interference from each other. The diver adjusts his pinger receiver to the frequency of the desired pinger and the receiver leads him directly to it. These low-frequency acoustic pingers have a 3-6 mile range versus several thousand foot range for conventional mid-frequency (30 - 40 kHz) pingers.


Product Features

JW Fishers family of commercial grade low-frequency acoustic pingers include both the Single Low-Frequency Pinger (SLFP-1) and the Multi Low-Frequency Pinger (MLFP-1). The SLFP-1 is available in 11-16 kHz in 1 kHz increments, one of which is specified at time of order. The MLFP-1 has user selectable frequencies from 11-16 kHz in 500 Hz increments. The operator selects one of 11 different frequencies before deploying the pinger.


Versatility and Flexibility

Fishers acoustic pingers are very flexible allowing the operator to select the number of pulses per second, the length of each pulse, and the output power. Varying the length of each pulse and output power allow the operator to adjust the distance the pingers can be detected. With the MLFP-1 the transmission frequency can be selected by the operator before deployment. These features make the pingers extremely versatile and the first choice for almost any application.


Optional Features

The optional PC Software allows the operator using a laptop to fine tune the variable settings including selecting delayed start (from a minute to a 365 day delay start). Power for the pingers is supplied by standard alkaline batteries which last from a few weeks to many months, depending on output power and pulse selection. Extended Operating Life housing and Very Long Duration housing (hold more batteries) are available which significantly extend the operating time.


Activation and Warranty

The pinger can be automatically activated when put in water, or manually activated on the circuit board. Fishers pingers are covered by our 2 year exclusive UNCONDITIONAL warranty.
