The Fisher F70 is one of the few metal detectors made to handle all aspects of treasure hunting. Equally good for gold nugget prospecting, coin, relic and jewelry hunting. Be sure to read our Guide Fisher F70 and F75 Metal Detector Comparison.

Advanced Features, Intuitive Interface

The double-filter discrimination mode of the Fisher F70 makes this metal detector worth its weight in gold. It distinguishes between unwanted metal objects, like aluminum and nails, and the more desirable metals. Plus, a two-digit setting number, displayed on the LCD monitor of the Fisher F70, indicates the type of ground mineralization from wet salt to magnetite and other black iron minerals.

Detailed Specifications:

I notice this Fisher F70 package has 2 DD coils? Whats the use of a coil that small?
Question by: Smitty on Jun 23, 2017, 3:13 PM Link
This Fisher F70 metal detector package comes with 2 highly desirable DD coils. The 11" coil provides great depth & ground coverage, while the 5" coil is useful for trashy areas, along fences in between rocks, etc.....
Answer by: detector reviews on Jun 23, 2017, 3:17 PM
How deep will the detector go for a dime (ten cents coin) with a clear good signal?
Question by: mike miller on Apr 9, 2018, 10:56 AM Link
There are a lot of factors that affect depth, but I would say the approx. MAX depth of the F70, when using the 11-inch DD search coil would be about 10-12 inches. This depends on the size, orientation, and composition of the target, as well as ground conditions.

Can you use this in salt water
Question by: Bill on Mar 1, 2019, 8:22 AM Link
The F70 does have a pretty good ground balance system, but if you'll be spending most of your time on a salt-water beach, you might want to consider something like this: https://www.metaldetector.com/whites-mx7-weatherproof-metal-detector-with-9-5-search-coil

Is this unit backlit?
Question by: Jim on Dec 29, 2019, 3:46 PM Link
No, it does not offer a back-light, but the display is fairly large, and so are the Target ID numbers, so it does give you a fighting chance.
Answer by: metaldetector.com on Dec 30, 2019, 10:04 AM
how deep in the ground can it detect
Question by: rosa on Feb 23, 2020, 12:01 PM Link
The F-70 has a range of about 8-10 inches or so, depending on the size/composition of the target being detected, and ground conditions.
Answer by: metaldetector.com on Feb 26, 2020, 9:10 AM
This f70 MD comes with two waterproof coils. It states it has waterproof 11" and 5" DD coils. That can be deceiving as it could be that only the 5" coil is DD and the 11" is not. Is the11" waterproof coil also DD?
Question by: rob on Aug 20, 2018, 9:06 PM Link
Sorry for any ambiguity. Both coils are waterproof, and DD style coils.
Answer by: MetalDetector.com on Aug 21, 2018, 10:04 AM
Can this detector be used in water to find gold?
Question by: Linus on Apr 19, 2018, 5:46 AM Link
AT WHAT DEPTH CAN I USE THIS DETECTOR?
Question by: CHAS W CLAYTON on Feb 28, 2018, 3:57 PM Link
The Fisher F70 is NOT waterproof, so it cannot be submerged. The search coil is, so if you find yourself detecting in a small stream, you would be ok. Just don't get the control box wet!
Answer by: MetalDetector.com on Mar 9, 2018, 11:40 AM
What is the weight of the Fisher F70 detector and how many batteries it take? MDM
Question by: MDM on Jun 23, 2017, 3:20 PM Link
The Fisher F70 detector is a very ergonomic 3 lbs with the 4 AA batteries under the arm cup.
