The Schonstedt GA-72CD Locator detects the magnetic field of iron and steel objects. With only two Controls, the GA-72CD is designed for one handed operation. The two easy-to-use controls are the On/Off/Sensitivity and Volume. Be sure to read our article Schonstedt GA-52CX Magnetic Locator, Schonstedt GA-72CD Metered Magnetic Locator and Schonstedt Spot Magnetic Locator Comparison.

Quickly Finds Buried Iron and Steel

The Schonstedt GA-72CD Locator detects the magnetic field of iron and steel objects. It provides audio detection signals that peak in frequency when the locator’s tip is held directly over the target. The GA-72CD has the option of nulling or peaking. The Schonstedt GA-72CD is a magnetic locator with a digital display. It is Schonstedt's most versatile locator. The GA-72CD offers both audio and visual output. Displays both polarity and relative audio sound strength on the 3 digit lcd readout and bar graph. There are two audio output settings on this underground magnetic locator. Based on field intensity, the volume or frequency can be increased or decreased. This Schonstedt locator contains the HeliFlux® sensors for optimal performance. It will provide a response to iron and steel objects only as it is a magnetic locator. You can easily locate steel pipe joints, iron pipes, pk nails, a corner marker, a steel manhole cover or other ferrous metal objects with pinpoint accuracy. There are many features that make this device stand out from the crowd, including a modular design, high-performance components, and a 7 year warranty. This magnetic pipe locator is simple to operate yet able to locate underground pipes with ease. This model provides no response to aluminum, brass, or copper like all of Schonstedt’s underground magnetic locators.

Easy-To-Use

Only two Controls! Designed for one hand operations, the On/Off-Sensitivity and Volume controls are located on the underside of the cover. This provides easy access, protects the knobs and contributes to their overall ruggedness and dependability. The Schonstedt level of sensitivity allows you to find what you’re looking for quickly, without the risk of passing over your target. This Schonstedt magnetic locator is used across a wide variety of industrial applications. From road construction and maintenance to land survey it is so popular and has an lcd readout 85% of the Surveyor market can't be wrong. As a piece of land surveying equipment, Schonstedt Instrument Company has designed the device for easy location of a wide variety of ferromagnetic objects including survey pins. In fact, if you are looking for a device to find property line marker pins with unmatched sensitivity, this device is ideal. This pipe finder offers reliability and will make locating markers and other ferrous metal objects a breeze. The device provides a clear audio detection signal when you pass over ferromagnetic objects. A burbling sound indicates the presence of energized power lines. It works in a variety of environmental conditions and this will not influence the meter indication unless associated with a magnetic structure.

The Schonstedt ga-72cd magnetic locator is also used by professionals in the following industries: Surveying and Mapping, Construction and Excavation, Contract Locating, Gas and Oil Pipelines, Roads and Transportation, Facilities Management and Power and Electric. This Schonstedt model provides no response to aluminum, brass, or copper since it is a magnetic locator. This unit is made of high performance components and comprises incredibly tough production techniques which enable it to hold up to a lot of wear and tear. The device will locate buried ferrous objects and and ignore nonferrous metals was designed for use in challenging field conditions. Figure 1 in the GA-72cd manual illustrates an application in which the device is used to detect an iron marker used for property line identification.

The device is powered by 2 9v alkaline batteries. You can operate the unit with one hand operation. You will clearly see your targets on the display bar graph. When it comes time to update your batteries, the design offers easy access battery removal and replacement. An internal switch allows the user to change it to a fixed frequency and the volume varying with the gradient field intensity switch. The audio output features: Switch at “A” Signal increases or decreases in volume with gradient field intensity. Switch at “B” Signal increases or decreases in frequency with. This model offers four different levels of sensitivity. The battery indicator on the display shows the current battery condition. The device has two different audio modes, either peak or null response. There is also an optional data logger output available on this device. The GA-72CD can be used as a data collector as well. The headset jack also provides an analog output signal, which can be used for the input to a data logger. This +/- 4 volt signal varies in proportion to signal strength from actual targets and is accessible by wiring a standard stereo plug.
